What are your challenges in homeschooling, and how did you deal with those challenges?

I am Mommy Karen and a first-time homeschooler Mom for my daughter, Inya, a child with special needs, in Lamblight. As in many of the firsts, one anticipates ahead the challenges of a new endeavor. Add to the reality that Covid pandemic still existed as of School Year 2021-2022.

I am a working mother, after more than 20 years of hiatus – from a homemaker to a homeschooler Mom, this made me feel excited for what is to come. My first challenge was to balance my schedule of work and homeschooling tasks with my daughter so as not to compromise the goal we set for her as a grade 9 student. As my work was also in line with teaching and handling tutorial consultancy management with my team, it came as a surprise, a blessing I must say, that the challenge served to address both concerns. Moreover, Inya’s homeschooling task served as a complement to what I was already doing. What made my daughter and my reality quite easy to navigate is that, Lamblight Homeschool program offered an exemplary service in that the teachers ably assisted me in all my concerns and queries pertaining to my daughter’s unique learning challenge as a child with special needs. The follow-up sessions in the first quarter really helped me navigate the new dynamics of teaching that I employed to my daughter, notwithstanding the reality that she no longer was going to the school premises of Lamblight.

I have worked hand in hand with my husband in tutoring our daughter in the subjects that required creativity in her learning styles, mostly visuals. We have not arrived yet to the fullest measure in assisting her learning abilities but we are hopeful that because Lamblight Homeschool works hand in hand with us, parents, we then, are assured that teaching and learning if done as a team, with all its support services, Success as a whole is not too far to be achieved as progress is made as we continually move forward. Kudos to Lamblight!
